The 5th-grade classes, along with the help of Freshman Science and Choteau community members, have researched for and prepared display boards for the Wild Wings Event taking place on March 22nd and 23rd. These projects focus on areas of migration, management, and habitat of many local species.

Grant awarded to CES Library from the Choteau Education Foundation Mrs. McCollom is working on her 5-year plan to update her non-fiction books for her K-6 library. These books are highly used and students need some new exciting books to keep their interest. She recently applied for a grant from the Choteau Education Foundation and was awarded $263 to purchase 12 non-fiction titles! Thank you, CEF!

Mrs. McCollom, our K-12 Library Specialist, and Mr. Cornelius, our 7-12 Principal, applied for a grant from the Montana Masonic Lodge this fall. In late January they were pleased to get a letter informing them they were awarded the grants. Mrs. McCollom received $1661 and plans to use it to buy a 3-year subscription to World Book Encyclopedia online. This can be accessed by all K-8 students and teachers for research purposes and can be used in the classroom, at home, or in the library. Our encyclopedia set now is over 40 years old and needs updating and this is the newest and best form of information. Mr. Cornelius received $1313.91. The funds from this grant are providing our science department with a high-powered telescope that is very advanced. Not only is this telescope extremely high-powered, but this telescope connects to wifi. This enables the user to type a code of the respective object and the telescope finds it and then tracks whatever you are viewing across the sky. We hope to use this for our students as well as at community events, as it is quite a treat to have a telescope of this caliber. The Montana Masonic Lodge Education Grant Program had $450,000 worth of requests this year from all over the state. This year alone, they granted $107,000 to schools all over the state. They also donated four elementary children's bikes for the Bikes for Books Program we participate in during May. Our school feels very fortunate to be awarded this generous donation.
