Choteau Schools and the Choteau Community Art Studio are co-sponsoring a unique musical opportunity for our school and community next week!
On Wednesday, August 27th, in the high school auditorium at 2:30 p.m., we will be hosting Sir Lino Piloto of Zimbabwe. Lino has previously taught at Africa University and for many years has served as the director of Ntswai Ntswai Arts, a group specializing in performing and sharing culture through music, dance, and folktales. He plays and makes Mbira, marimba, hosho rattles, and drums. He is very enthusiastic about his work in promoting the music of Zimbabwe and is sure to engage audiences of all ages. Performing with Lino is Dr. Carolyn Burns, a retired elementary music specialist, college professor, composer, and consultant/trustee for the Ntswai Ntswai Arts from Shelby, Montana. She has studied mbira and Zimbabwe music under Lino for over four years.
We are so excited that Lino and Carolyn accepted our invitation to perform, and we hope you will join us for this educational, entertaining, and inspiring concert.
